About Me
I am a specialist (qualified and professionally registered) addiction psychotherapist. I have worked within the field of addiction for over 20 years. Whilst studying, I worked on a specialist NHS addiction unit. Here, I gained hands-on experience of the physical and psychological symptoms of alcohol and drug addiction along with the complex issues involved with eating disorders and behaviours. For the past 10 years I have worked as a psychotherapist in private practice.
I achieved my degree in 2010 from Leicester University and have run my own practice since then. I continue to engage in CPD to keep my practice fresh and proficient.
I have a practices in Leamington Spa and Stow on the Wold.
I use an eclectic range of techniques to address addiction, all of which encompass; biological, psychological and social factors. Knowledge and understanding of these enhance awareness, acceptance, responsibility and action to live a life free from addiction.
I have also been administering Microsystem acupuncture since 2010. I offer this as an adjunct to therapy, if required.
There are too many forms of addiction to mention and unfortunately, they are increasing as technology progresses and social interaction decreases. Isolation is common and secrets can be kept from loved ones easily.
I am humbled that the majority of my clients are referred to me by my previous clients or via other professionals.
I am also a practicing yoga teacher and firmly believe that maintaining a healthy body helps greatly in maintaining good mental health.
I am probably best known for reassuring my clients towards recovery by the statement ‘I’ll never suggest for you to try something that I haven’t tried myself.’ This is absolutely true. Every intervention I suggest, I have tried myself and has been of benefit to me in some way.
