Addressing Addiction offers confidential face to face addiction therapy, delivered by a highly experienced, degree qualified and professionally registered psychotherapist, who specialises in addiction. Appointments offer support and solutions to anyone experiencing the effects of addiction/dependency.
We use an eclectic range of techniques to address addiction(s), all of which encompass; biological, psychological and social factors and are proven to enhance awareness, acceptance, responsibility and action to live a life free from addiction.
Unfortunately, no one is exempt from the potential of addiction and, in our experience, most people lose possessions, employment, relationships and friends with the escalation of their addiction before seeking support.
Addiction can be secretive however the physical and social effects are not. We work to address entrenched behaviours associated with the addiction. This requires reflection and understanding of core beliefs and their subsequent behaviours to find safe alternative coping strategies to challenge unhelpful thoughts. Complex cognitive and behavioural work around issues may be difficult and painful to address, however our ethos is; that we will not ‘put a plaster on it’. We go deep to the core and treat all issues in their entirety. We treat everyone as individuals with their own unique issues and needs.
It is not by accident that addiction is placed under Mental Health in its diagnosis and treatment therefore, it is essential that you are provided with accurate information and appropriate techniques to work towards a realistic individual goal.
By completing an initial assessment, guided by the therapist, unique core issues and needs will come to the fore and these will be revisited and reassessed throughout the therapeutic process to appreciate progress and maintain commitment.
